It’s was a slow news week for DC Films, until recently we might be getting Ben Affleck’s Batman much sooner than originally thought and also Joe Manganiello is doing Deathstroke research, Jai Courtney talks about Suicide Squad backlash and wanting a Flash cameo.
Batman Movie is “a year and a half out”?
Recently, Time Warner CEO Jeff Bewkes spoke about the DC Films slate in a call to investors and now thanks to The Suicide Squadcast a full audio of Bewkes comments have been released including a timeframe for Ben Affleck’s Batman movie.
“Ben (Affleck) announced a Batman movie. He’s going to direct, star, write. I think it’s a year and a half out.”
If this is true, we could be seeing Affleck’s solo Batman released sometime March 2018. This would mean pre-production and shooting would be happening very soon to hit this release date, it’s more likely Bewkes meant production would start in March 2018.

If this is the case, the scheduled November 1, 2019, release date for an untitled DC movie is, in fact, Ben Affleck’s Batman.
The thing is it hasn’t made bigger news which suggests this story has a grey area, I'm not sure it’s 100% true. It’s probably best to take this story with a grain of salt.
Joe Manganiello researching Deathstroke role
— Joe Manganiello (@JoeManganiello) 27 September 2016
If the story above is true or not, Joe Manganiello is already starting his prep and research as the villain Deathstroke with Warner Bros and DC Comics sending a nice care package filled with famous Deathstroke comics and stories, toys and collectables.
We have already seen test footage of Manganiello in the suit which got fans incredibly excited. So let’s hope we get a Slade Wilson that is even more badass than Manu Bennett was in Arrow.

MTV’s Josh Horowitz was at the Toronto Film Festival and caught up with Jai Courtney for the latest episode of the“Happy Sad Confused!” podcast. They talked about a lot of things including dressing like Nazis and Jai getting naked, the discussion then moved to Suicide Squad and the mixed reaction the film received.
Courtney seemed to be surprised to hear the film was so divisive among fans and admits he stops listening when things get “too noisy.” This seems to suggest he zones out after the first round of reviews hit online.
He goes on to say he loves the film and the performances.
Courtney also asks if there’s one superhero film nobody has issues with and the obvious answer was Chris Nolan’s The Dark Trilogy saying those films were “fucking amazing” and a different beast to Suicide Squad was trying to do.

This lead to the DC vs Marvel discussion with Courtney saying DC is still the “bad guy” and Suicide Squad wasn’t intendant to please everyone and also praised the awesome job Marvel are doing saying:
“They’ve had the time to let that shit marinate, everything’s established now, we don’t have to figure out who anyone is. It’s like ‘Cool. Get them all together and let’s have a fucking orgy and make a billion dollars'.”
He went on to add how hard it is to please everyone and loved working with David Ayer and hopes he comes back to make a sequel. Horowitz went on to say there was a rumour Captain Boomerang would appear in The Flash.
“Is that the rumour?” he asked “I like that rumour. I like that a lot.” Adding that he doesn’t know shit because DC/Warner Bros don’t tell him shit.
It’s a funny podcast and makes me like Courtney more and it would be great to see him in some more comedic roles. You can listen here and the Suicide Squad talk starts around 56:58 mark.
Rick Famuyiwa teases The Flash script re-writes and with Cyborg?
This week, The Flash director Rick Famuyiwa has teased fans that he’s currently making some re-writes to make this DC film feel like his film after replacing original director and script writer Seth Grahame-Smith.
It’s understandable he’s performing “current revisions” to the script and he’s not re-writing the whole script just having his own stamp on it and in the image, he posted on Twitter seems to be teasing Cyborg as well.

The Flash is expected to start production near the end of this year with a current scheduled release date of March 16, 2018.
Elena Anaya will be “a big nightmare” in Wonder Woman
A lot was made of facial mask Elena Anaya was wearing in the Wonder Woman trailer with many thinking she’ll be a villain as it made her look “creepy”.
Anaya recently spoke to Spanish website SensaCine and opened up about her role in the DC film saying:
“Well, it was a small role in this big ensemble, but it is an important character in the story. It’s directed by Patty Jenkins, then there’s Gal Gadot as our main lead, Chris Pine as her co-lead and I’m going to be… a big nightmare for the two of them.”
I don’t think she’ll be a main villain in the film, but she could make problems for Wonder Woman and Steve Trevor.
