Daley & Godstein Give Flash Contract Update & Rumoured Plot And Character Info

The Hollywood Reporter caught up with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein at the premiere of their new dark comedy Game Night.

The pair told the US website that they haven’t finalised anything and haven’t signed on the dotted line to helm The Flash solo film for Warner Bros yet.

“We’re still negotiating,” Daley told THR. “Deals are in the works right now.”

Goldstein did joke about the reasons for the hold-up, “It’s all about parking spots. If you give in then you’re all the way out by craft services. You want a better spot than that” he quipped.

Personally, I do think a deal is close and both parties are just waiting to hear about how well Game Night does in the box office this weekend before a possible announcement during next week.

Because if it’s able to do decently, even with Black Panther expected to make $100+ million in its second weekend, I’d say $50+ million and does well with audiences then Daley and Goldstein will be getting a bit more money.

If the Spider-Man: Homecoming writing duo does sign on then it’s possible Ezra Miller’s first solo outing WON’T be Flashpoint but a standalone Flash adventure.

That Hashtag Show is stating that these details BEFORE Daley and Goldstein possible taking over of the project. So please take everything I’m about to report with a huge helping of salt, just go nuts!

That Hashtag Show are rumouring Warner Bros are wanting to start filming this summer in their Leavesden Studios (Wonder Woman, the Wizarding World series, Justice League filmed here) with a budget over $100 million, with a large number of that going on post-production VFX with an aim of a 2020 release.

The studio is looking at bringing in Ghost In The Shell’s cinematographer Jess Hall as the films’ Director of Photographer, which I’m personally down for because that film looked beautiful.

The website couldn’t get much plot details but did get a list of names and character to appear. Obviously, Miller will return as Barry Allen/Flash as well as Billy Crudup reprising his role of Henry Allen as well as Ray Fisher returning as Cyborg.

Meanwhile, Kiersey Clemons was still Iris West until she was cut out completely from Justice League.

The film will be looking at using references and flashbacks to Barry’s accident and will involve Eobard Thawne in an “interesting way”. Officer Fred Chyre (a Keystone Cop in the comics) will be working with Allen on the death of Jonathan Chambers/Johnny Quick and Chyre’s partner Detective Jared Morillo will be in supporting roles.

As for the film’s main villain Dr Arthur Light with Captain Cold and Heatwave as secondary villains. Caitlin Snow is expected to be a lead character which would point towards Killer Frost making an appearance.

Clearly, this doesn’t sound like Flashpoint in the slightest so this could’ve been what the previous director Rick Famuyiwa had in mind for his film that would’ve been coming out next month.

However, if this is true and that’s a BIG IF then supports my thoughts/theory that Miller’s first solo Flash outing wasn’t going to be Flashpoint when it was announced at last summer’s San Diego Comic-Con and we’ll have a normal Flash solo film before Flashpoint which will be Justice League 2.
