It’s been a busy but positive week within DC Films as chief Walter Hamada has found his deputy, Aquaman’s first test screening, Batgirl, Nightwing and possible new changes to the Flash movie.
Hamada Has Found His Right-Hand Woman
Earlier in the week, The Hollywood Reporter revealed that Warner Bros has promoted Chantal Nong to a major position in WB’s DC Films group.

Nong has become VP Production within DC Films and she’ll handle development and production management of its slate.
This basically means she’s one of Hamada’s deputies and this appointment signals a possible new wave of news and projects coming from WB/DC and they’ll include Batgirl and Flash (not Flashpoint?) among others.
Nong isn’t a known name but she’s been at the studio since 2011 and previously worked on The Intern and 300: Rise of an Empire and recently oversaw development of Jason Statham’s shark movie The Meg and Crazy Rich Asians.
Aquaman’s First Test Screening

Aquaman has its first test screening and the reaction coming out was positive, however, I’d only it with a pinch of salt as it is its FIRST test screening and there’s plenty of work like CGI to get through as well as reshoots likely happening in the summer.
On the other hand, it is good to hear the screening went well with people praising it as an action movie with emotion and that Amber Heard’s Mera is more of a co-lead rather an Aquaman’s (Jason Momoa) love interest.
"It ambitious: tons of action, adventure & suspense. A grand epic full of cool characters & comic book moments amped x1000 by James Wan. Momoa pulls off Arthur Curry the man and the hero he becomes. Its all about the ties that bind. Mera, Black Manta & Orm ALL amaze!" #Aquaman pic.twitter.com/S1QntMQ0t4— The Aquaman Shrine (@AquamanShrine) 22 February 2018
So far two different sources told me they loved #Aquaman! There’s tons of action but it’s a very emotional movie as well.— Batman-News.com (@BatmanNewsCom) 21 February 2018
A very reliable source tells me AQUAMAN had a test screening last night. Apparently...it's really good. Why this would surprise anyone I have no idea...as @creepypuppet is a first-rate director with one of the most consistent track records in Hollywood.— Robert Meyer Burnett (@BurnettRM) 22 February 2018
My source says AQUAMAN has a very RAIDERS OF THE LOST ARK vibe...in the best of ways (Meaning...not in an ALLAN QUATERMAIN AND THE LOST CITY OF GOLD way).— Robert Meyer Burnett (@BurnettRM) 22 February 2018

Like I said, take with a pinch of salt and let’s wait for more concrete info around October/November.
Joss Whedon Leaves Batgirl and Chris McKay Is Staying Put With Nightwing
This week Variety broke a story that The LEGO Batman Director Chris McKay is being lined-up to work on Dungeons & Dragons.
Firstly, if this comes through then the best of luck to McKay I have no doubt I’ll helm a highly entertaining D&D film and I’d look forward to Lorne Balfe’s score because that’s going to be awesome.
This led to fans worrying about the fate of Nightwing and if McKay has left the project.
Fear not as he eased fans worries by saying he’s going nowhere.
I’m pretty sure WB are going to have to fire me if they want me to leave Nightwing.....— Chris McKay (@buddboetticher) 22 February 2018
This shouldn’t be a surprise as McKay as repeatedly talked about his love for Dick Grayson and last week he gave fans an update and a voice into what they’d like to see from the actor who’ll play the character.
This D&D news, if the film starts picking up the pace, just says we won’t be getting the Nightwing movie anytime soon.
Elsewhere, Joss Whedon had left Batgirl and you can read more about this great news here!

Rumoured Flash details
The Hollywood Reporter caught up with John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein at the premiere of their new dark comedy Game Night.
The pair told the US website that they haven’t finalised anything and haven’t signed on the dotted line to helm The Flash solo film for Warner Bros yet.
