Oscar Winner Forest Whitaker Joins Marvel's Black Panther

It looks like Disney is getting into the Forest Whitaker business after finishing his role in Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, he’s now moved to the Marvel Cinematic Universe starring in another major blockbuster.

The Oscar-winning actor is joining the ready impressive Black Panther cast and will be playing Zuri, who Marvel describes as an elder statesman in Wakanda. We’ll most likely see him playing an important part throughout the film.

Marvel also confirmed Whitaker will be joined by Florence Kasumba, who’ll be reprising her “Captain America: Civil War” role as Ayo, a member of the Dora Milaje (T’Challa’s royal security team). Daniel Kaluuya (Skins, Black Mirror, Sicario) has been added to play Panther’s friend W’Kab and finally Winston Duke (Person of Interest) will appear as M’Buku, leader of a rival tribe in Wakanda.

M’Buku is the secret identity of one of Black Panther’s most iconic villains, the blood-drinking warrior known as Man-Ape.

Black Panther has the best cast ever assembled for a Marvel film with Chadwick Boseman as T’Challa/Black Panther and Michael B. Jordan as the villainous Erik Killmonger. Meanwhile, Academy Award winner Lupita Nyong’o will star as Nakia and Danai Gurira as Okoye, another member of the fierce Dora Milaje.

The film is directed by Ryan Coogler (Fruitville Station, Creed) and it has all the makings of being the best Marvel film ever made and it’s differently the most important comic-book movie ever made too.

Black Panther will be released in the UK on February 9th, 2018 and, a week later, February 16th, 2018 in the US.
