Rumour - Knight Rider Set For Updated Big Screen Reboot With John Cena & Kevin Hart

We’ve had 21/22 Jump Street and Baywatch; it was only time before talks began to bring Knight Rider back on the big screen as one of the many updated reboots.

Rumour is (via Screen Rant) The Weinstein Company is behind this latest reboot with the aim of making a comedy similar to the Jump Street movies and it’s said WWE superstar John Cena is being looked at as the new Michael Knight with Kevin Hart earmarked as the new voice of KITT, but everything is still in their early stages.

This wouldn’t be the first time Hollywood tried to modernised Knight Rider as it has a short run on TV focusing on Michael Knight’s son, but nothing was able to match the campy 80s show.

The original run lasted four years from 1982 – 1986 and starred David Hasselhoff as Michael Knight and alongside his talking car KITT, he fought plenty of crime and 90 episodes were made before the show came to an end.

There has been no mention of a possible writer or director as the studio will take its time getting it right after the underperformance of Baywatch this summer.

I understand why they’d look at Cena as the lead, but doesn’t have plenty of acting experience and sure this is the type of movie you can get away with below par campy acting and I think someone like a John Krasinski (The US Office) might work better and you can’t go wrong with Hart at the moment.
