Ryan Coolger Yet To Sign For Black Panther Sequel

Black Panther is about to completely dominate the worldwide box office and it won’t be too bad for a director handling his first big budget Hollywood movie.

Previously, Ryan Coolger helmed smaller projects Creed and Fruitvale Station and now with the critical, and defiantly audience, reception of the superhero film it’s safe to say he did a good job.

However, surprisingly Marvel didn’t sign Coolger up to a multi-picture deal and now unsurprisingly the big boss Feige “absolutely” wants him signed up for a sequel.

It’ll be a smart move to move Chadwick Boseman’s Black Panther as the leader of the MCU post-Avengers 4 once Robert Downey Jr and Chris Evans leave the universe.

During an interview with Variety, Feige said he’s hoping Coolger will direct another one, although he didn’t get drawn how many solo films Black Panther will have the door is left open.

“We always say we work on one movie at a time. If you have any good ideas, put it in the movie you’re making” he said.

“If you don’t, you might not be able to make another one. That said, Panther has been around for more than half a century in the comic books and there are many, many stories to tell.”

This is the same situation Warner Bros were in with Patty Jenkins and at the end of the day it’ll come down to how many trucks of money will Disney/Marvel give the 31-year-old and whatever happens, he’ll more likely be the highest paid Black director in history.

Even though Marvel are favourites, if I were WB/DC I’d be just seeing if Coolger would be interested in working on one of their films, Green Lantern Corps and Superman would be on offer. Additionally, based off one scene and a number of factors, I could see Coolger helming Bond 26 (the one after Daniel Craig’s final film).
