Will Smith Leaves The Suicide Squad

Will Smith won’t be part of Task Force X as he’s exiting the Suicide Squad sequel.

Variety broke the story and even though Smith’s return wasn’t official it’s not likely he’ll sign up to The Suicide Squad as sources have told the US trade that scheduling was the deciding factor.

He’s currently filming Bad Boys for Life as well as Bright 2 and Bad Boys 4 in the pipeline. He’ll also be promoting the third film in the Bad Boys franchise so it was always possible this was going to happen.

However, the issue was ended on amicable terms and there are no hard feelings between both parties.

It has caused some problems as sources revealed Warner Bros always wanted its biggest stars like Smith and Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn to return for the James Gunn written-directed DC sequel as they worked out the other casting decisions as they went along.

Additionally, Justin Kroll went on to add the studio execs (so probably DC Films chief Walter Hamada and WB Chairman Toby Emmerich are involved) are deciding whether to recast the role or replace him with another villain from the DC Universe.

It makes the most sense for Deadshot to be replaced as there are other characters from DC history that could be brought in a play by an A list Hollywood actor, Bronze Tiger comes to mind.

BRONZE TIGER

I think most fans hope Quinn does make a return but more importantly Viola Davis as Amanda Waller is the number one that needs to happen as it was perfect casting and was one of the shining light from the original 2016 movie.

Gunn is wanting to start production during the Autumn (fall for everyone in the US reading) with a release date currently set for August 6, 2021.
