Javier Bardem In Talks To Become Frankenstein's Monster

It looks like Universal has found their Frankenstein’s monster in the form of the beautiful and rugged Javier Bardem, according to Variety.

It’s unknown what film Bardem’s monster would feature in first. But this is just the latest (if he has signed on the dotted line after talks) of high profile actors to join Universal's monsters universe as they continue to make a statement.

Firstly, Tom Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Russell Crowe signed to The Mummy, which is near the end of filming.

Cruise will be playing Tyler Colt, either a current or former Navy SEAL, with Boutella as The Mummy and Crowe, will be Dr Jekyll (a role Bardem was offered but turned down) and will most likely reprise the role for a future Jekyll and Hyde film.

So with Cruise and Crowe on board its, likely Jonny Depp could be The Invisible Man and Angelina Jolie is being courted to star and directed a possible Bride of Frankenstein film. Then recently there was a report of Dwayne Johnson was linked to The Wolfman.

The studio’s trust in Alex Kurtzman and Chris Morgan (both screenwriters) to building this universe is really paying off and with Kurtzman directing The Mummy and start off being new life to these characters.

If the likes of Depp, Jolie and Johnson do follow Bardem to sign and join this universe then Universal really has a goldmine of stars and if The Mummy is a success both critically and box-office then this could be the start of something massive.
