Early Review of Batman v Superman and "There's No Winning Anymore For Superman"

HENRY CAVILL AND BEN AFFLECK ACTING LIKE CHILDREN ON FACBOOK
There has been A LOT of DC news release since last week as we’re just over two weeks away from Batman v Superman hitting cinemas. The first mini review was released on Twitter, Gal Gadot is looking beautiful in Glamour magazine and director Zack Snyder says there’s no winning for Superman.

Before all that, The Hollywood Reporter last night reported Oscar winner J.K. Simmons will be playing Commissioner Gordon in the upcoming Justice League, which is to start filming in London on April 11th.

I cannot wait to see what Simmons brings to the character and he has a tough job on his hands as the DC Comic's character was brought to life so well by Gary Oldman recently in Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight trilogy.

Simmons became a favourite with superhero fans with his spot on portrayal of J. Johan Jameson in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man movies.

Next up, Entertainment Weekly writer Anthony Breznican was able to get an early screening of Warner Bros biggest ever film, Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and he took to Twitter to share his thoughts:

I’m happy to say I’m under the first category, and if you haven’t seen Man of Steel, I recommend you should because it helps explain why Batman v Superman is happening in the first place and also it’s a great film and it’s on Amazon Prime, so I can now go in and enjoy the film without much to worry.

However, I’m worried the dark/grim tone of the film will push causal audiences away or ruin their enjoyment at the cinema and if there’s things wrong with the film, like Man of Steel, I’ll talk about them in my review.

The other thing Breznican mentioned which excites me is how positive he talked about Wonder Woman because she’s been around for 75 years and has never appeared on the big screen until now. Hopefully if more reviews talk positively about Gal Gadot’s performance, the more girls/women go to the cinema.

Breznican also wrote a piece about the film and the DC Universe going forward and it’s SPOILER HEAVY, so if you want to read it and find out more then click here.

Elsewhere, Wonder Woman herself Gadot recently did an interview with Glamour magazine and here’s a video of how you pronounce the former Israeli model’s name and more.

Finally, Batman v Superman director Zack Snyder was interviewed by DC All Acress and he was talking about how Superman is fighting a losing battle from the start.

“Over the last two years he’s basically been Superman as pop culture would know him. He’s been righting wrongs, there have been floods, mines have collapsed, bridges have collapsed, churches have caught on fire. He’s basically been a hero. When we find him, he’s been dealing with the everyday world of being a superhero, but there’s a paradigm shift happening in that the unintended consequences of some of those rescues are starting to come into fruition. He’s starting to see that every action has a reaction. Like, if you’re just taking a cat out of a tree, you can’t touch anything or the arborists will say, ‘He damaged the tree branch when he got the cat down.’ Or, ‘The cat wasn’t neutered, so now there’s thousands of cats.’ There’s no winning anymore for Superman.”

He then talks about the core concept of the film and why Batman has an issue with the Man of Steel.

“It’s interesting to see how Batman perceives Superman, because he doesn’t know who Superman is. All he knows is the public face of Superman. And if you have an idea about someone or if you start to doubt someone’s intentions, you can always read in the media, you can always see the face that you want to see, based on how it’s reported. Batman’s seen the destruction of Metropolis. That’s the thing he knows for a fact. So if thousands die, is that okay? What next? Millions? Is everyone okay with that? Because I’m not. That’s Batman’s point of view.”

This is actually an interesting issue because during Superman’s 75 years he has always been the Boy Scout, Mr. America if you will. However, in the 21st century we’ve all become cynical and it’s great to see a superhero film representing the world we live in today.

Just one more thing, as its a bit of fun, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Jesse Eisenberg were in a video promoting Omaze and click here win a chance to meet the trio at the NY premiere of Batman v Superman.
