'New Girl' Star Jake Johnson Will Be Joining Tom Cruise In The Mummy
Jake Johnson, better known for playing Nick Miller in New
Girl, will be joining Universal’s monster universe. He’s joined Tom Cruise for
the studio’s new version of The Mummy.
Alex Kurtzman will be directing the film and it serves as a
gateway to the studio’s cinematic universe (think of it as the MCU but with
Dracula, Frankenstein ect) and the comedic actor, who delighted fans in the
summer smash hit Jurassic World, is joining the stellar cast that includes
Cruise, Sofia Boutella and Annabelle Wallis is also in talks to join the
project.
The storyline will be set in modern day, with Cruise playing
a Special Forces soldier or former soldier while Boutella, who starred in Kingsman:
The Secret Service, is set to star as the creature and Wallis is to be a scientist.
The Hollywood Reporter has reported Johnson has a role
specifically written for him and will be a member of the military.
Jon Spaihts has written the script with the film about to
start shooting next month.
