Only One More Week Until Batman v Superman Plus More DC News
WE ARE A WEEK! THAT’S RIGHT ONE WEEK! UNTIL WE SEE TWO OF
THE MOST ICONIC SUPERHEROES BATTLE IT OUT.
It was three years ago when Zack Snyder took to the stage at
Comic Con to announce Batman and Superman will be appearing in a film together
for the first time.
Now fast forward to 2016 and we’re almost here and this
week, Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill, Gal Gadot and Jesse Eisenberg have been doing the press tour for Batman v Superman: Dawn of
Justice.
Gadot was on American talk show Ellen where she discussed about
how she got the role and then went on Jimmy Kimmel where we learn how to say
her name and she asked him about her breasts.
Cavill also appeared on Kimmel last night and they talked
about filming with Affleck and about how the glasses on Clark Kent is a good
disguise and proved it by going to Time Square in New York.
Even Eisenberg did
the rounds and came across as a sociable person and was really funny appearing
on Jimmy Fallon’s talk show talking about life on set.
Meanwhile, The Hollywood Reporter sat down with the leaders of the DC
Cinematic Universe husband and wife duo Zack and Deborah Snyder, and they
talked about why the DVD version being R-rated, which will be three hours long, and the
philosophy of this cinematic universe.

When talking about the decision to make the DVD version
R-rated (most likely be 15 once released in the UK) compared to the theatrical 12A
rating Deborah Snyder said “Online, everyone's like, "Oh, they're doing an
R-rated in reaction to Deadpool,"
and you're like (laughing), "We didn't just shoot it last week, and we
also didn't edit it last week."

Zack added, “The why of that is [the DVD version] is a
half-hour longer, and some of that additional material is some of the stuff we
took out for the rating. I was like, "Cool, I can put it back in for the
director's cut." There was nothing by design. This was the material I just
put back in, and then when [the MPAA] looked at it again, they were like,
"Oh, now the movie's rated R." And, by the way, it's not a hard R.
There's no nudity. There's a little bit of violence. It just tips the scale.”

Then they talked about how the DC films will look and feel
moving forward and judging by the quotes Warners Bros and the Snyder’s are
somewhat letting the filmmakers have control of the film they want to tell their
stories.
“Zack and [DC chief creative officer] Geoff Johns have
outlined a timeline of where everybody is based off of, where our characters go
in Justice
League. So there's a framework. But it's filmmaker-driven, in that
we want to hire directors who still have a point of view and that have
latitude because we don't want all the movies to feel the same. David Ayer has
a certain tone and feel to what he brought to Suicide Squad, as
does Patty [Jenkins] to Wonder Woman. They have freedom to tell their story in the
way that it needs to be told” said Deborah Snyder.

Personally, it’s the right move to make giving directors and
screenwriters a guide to what they’d like to happen, but letting them breathe
and giving them freedom.
It was just confirmed last night by Entertainment Tonight
Amber Heard will be joining the DC Cinematic Universe as Aquaman’s wife Mera.
The 29-year-old actress will be making her first appearance
as the underwater queen in 2017’s Justice League: Part One, which starts shooting
in London in just over three weeks time, then starring in the 2018 standalone
Aquaman film opposite Game of Theores star Jason Momoa as the King of Atlantis.

Heard briefly talked about her costume saying "It's
interesting. It's like, half suit of armour, half scales, it's strange... We're
in the process of building it now, so it's coming along."
I’m sure Heard will do a great job and now Aquaman has the
sexiest cast ever in a superhero film, but I’m just not sure of her acting, but
I’ve heard good things about her performance in The Danish Girl so I’ll wait
and see.
Also the fact, Mera is in the Justice League suggests to me
we won’t see Green Lantern appearing until the end of Justice League: Part One
or in Justice League: Part Two in 2019.

Finally, after the success of Deadpool it looks like Warner
Bros will be bringing their own anti-hero Lobo to the big screen. The Wrap is
reporting Wonder Woman writer Jason Fuchs will be penning the script.

Warner Bros have been developing a Lobo film since 2009 with
Guy Ritchie directing and a script written by Don Payne. Then Ritchie left the
project to work on something else and San Andreas director Brad Peyton is now
attached to direct.
Lobo is an intergalactic bounty hunter who enjoys mindless
violence and heavy drinking.
