Lara Croft is back! Now, according to a report in The Wrap, we know when she’ll be tomb raiding again as MGM and Warner Bros have announced the reboot will be coming to cinemas on March 16th, 2018.
There have been rumours of a brand new film for a while, but things really took steam when Oscar winner Alicia Vikander was announced to as the famous grave-digger.
The film is likely to resemble the recent rebooted Tomb Raider video games, which focused on a young and untested Lara on her first job before things go terribly wrong and she has to defend herself. The games became critically acclaimed and kick started the whole talk bring the character back to the big screen.

The brilliantly named Roar Uthaug will be directing and the film is likely to start shooting early next year.
As The Wrap reports, this release date has been rumoured for The Flash starring Ezra Miller, but after bring on Rick Famuyiwa as their new director. It looks like WB have other plans to the Scarlett Speedster and I think it could be sometime in Autumn 2018. That’s just me speculating!
I think it’s time to have a new take on Lara Croft and having someone as talented as Vikander in the lead and with the source material of the recent games (which sold 35 million units worldwide), it’s a great start. Hopefully, people will forget the two lukewarm films, starring Angelina Jolie.
What do you think? Is this the right time to bring Tomb Raider back? Will this break the curse on video game adaptations? Tweet me @Shaun_Wren.
