This Saturday is the Warner Bros panel at San Diego Comic-Con and will include Suicide Squad and Wonder Woman. So this week’s DC Films news round-up will be focusing on the upcoming release of David Ayer’s supervillain team-up and the Amazonian Princess.
Wonder Woman
In Entertainment Weekly’s special Comic-Con edition, they release brand new images of the film and the magazine was able to speak to the films leading lady Gal Gadot and director Patty Jenkins. Where Jenkins described her actress as “the natural spirit of Wonder Woman.”

To which Gadot talked about why she loves the character so much “I feel like Diana is really accessible. It’s very easy to relate to her. She has the heart of a human so she can be emotional, she’s curious, she’s compassionate, she loves people. And then she has the powers of a goddess. She’s all for good, she fights for good, she believes in great. I want to be her. And in “Wonder Woman,” she has this naiveté in her. It isn’t stupid, it’s magical. I would want to be naïve like that again.”
Ever since the birth of the DCEU, it seemed to be important for the studio to get a female director, and after Michelle MacLaren left the project, it was Patty Jenkins who the studio wanted to helm the project. Gadot talked why it was important to have a woman director.

“I think it’s important. It’s a story about a girl becoming a woman. I think only a woman, who has been a girl, can be able to tell the story in the right way” says Gadot. She added “With Patty, it’s a thing now, we communicate with our eyes. She doesn’t need to say a thing. If I’m hurt, she feels the pain. It’s a whole different connection that I have with her. She’s also brilliant, she’s bright, she’s fierce, she’s sharp. She knows exactly what she wants Wonder Woman to be.
“When Patty and I had our creative conversations about the character, we realized that Diana can still be a normal woman, one with very high values, but still a woman. She can be sensitive. She is smart and independent and emotional. She can be confused. She can lose her confidence. She can have confidence. She is everything. She has a human heart.”
Jenkins wanted to keep the story to a simple origin tale with a helping hand of a love story between Diana (Gadot) and Steve Trever (played by Chris Pine).

“I didn’t want to do anything more complicated,” Jenkins says. “From my point of view, this was the movie I was talking to them about for about eight or nine years. I’ve met with 10 different people at Warner Bros and then it all came together in this one moment.”
This project was always on her mind saying “When I made Monster and they asked me what I wanted to do [next], I immediately said, ‘I want to make Wonder Woman; everybody knew I wanted to make a superhero movie.”

After talking about this film since the first ever DC Films news round-up we are now only 18 days away from meeting Task Force X and the brand new Joker. To continue my mini countdown, a handful of the press went on a set visit and to which you can read Collider’s 55 things to know here.
There is one thing I wanted to talk about and that’s about Batman’s involvement in the film and how he will be portrayed in the film.
Director Ayer telling Collider “All the Batman movies have been from Batman’s point of view.
“He’s the good guy. He’s the hero of his own movie in all the movies we’ve seen. If you look at what Bruce Wayne has done in creating the Batman persona, his idea was to terrorize criminals. It’s sort of psychological warfare against criminals. This wraith that comes in the night and attacks and pulls criminals from society. For the first time, we’re seeing Batman from the point of view of the criminals and he’s freaking scary.”
HOW AWESOME IS THAT! I love Batman this is the side of him I, and many of you, wanted to see him and even though he won’t be in the film of long the fact that you’ll see the reactions of our misfits handling this bogeyman character.
Also in the report, they mention they saw concept art of Deadshot’s (played by Will Smith) prison cell with “Die Bat” on the wall.
Elsewhere, could this band of misfits be heading towards a huge opening weekend in the America box office? According to The Hollywood Reporter, it could be set to break records.
THR are reporting early tracking is suggesting an enormous $125 million opening weekend, with some box-office analysts believing it could be $135 million plus!
However, this is super early predictions and fans to be realistic with predicting and not have their hopes up, which is why I’m saying if it makes $95-$105 million then the film will be a success and would beat Marvel’s 2014 August record of $94.3 million.
It all comes down to the buzz from the RUMOURED! screening at Comic-Con this week and if the buzz is hugely positive and other critics in the US and UK (which I’m not sure our critics will like it) give it positive reviews then maybe look at $110 million plus.
Finally, as you have seen Warner Bros have released mini character spots with some new footage. What the fuck is happening with Enchantress?
You can also pre-book your tickets for the film’s release on August 5th.
Wonder Woman an upcoming Hollywood movie which will be released in June 2017. Story based on a Girl who got some magical powers and she fall in love with a simple boy.
