We’ve known for a while there would be a sequel to 2012’s smash it Wreck-It Ralph, mainly because Ralph himself (John C. Reilly) talked about it several times in the past, now Disney have officially confirmed the news via a Facebook Live video (click here to watch).
Rich Moore, the man behind the original will be returning to
direct the sequel alongside Phil Johnston (a writer on the first film and now
stepping up to the big leagues and co-directing this one), made the
announcement with Reilly who gave details to the plot.
Ralph leaves the arcade, and wrecks the internet. Characters
from the first film will also be making a return along with the voice cast, including
Vanellope (Sarah Silverman) with Johnson saying “The scope and scale are so
vast and the possibilities for comedy are endless.”

The first adventure made a whopping $471 million worldwide, triple of the $150+ million budget. Also, this is a perfect time for the sequel as Disney Animation is on a roll with Wreck-It Ralph, Frozen and Zootropolis, plus Moana comes out later this year.
After seeing our favourite arcade characters including Sonic
the hedgehog, there’s talk of Moore and co finally getting Nintendo to let them
use our favourite Italian plumber Mario and other of the company’s signature
characters.
Wreck-It Ralph 2 is slated to come out March 9th, 2018 in
the States so hopefully it won’t be too long after to get released in the UK.
The only real loser is ‘Gigantic,’ which is loosely based on the fairy tale “Jack
and the Beanstalk,” which has had its release date moved from March to November
21st, 2018.
