You're A Wizard, Spidey. MCU's Spider-Man Could Follow the 'Harry Potter' Format

We all know Spider-Man: Homecoming is centred on the most difficult of periods of anyone’s life… high school.

The new Marvel reboot is set to follow the example of the most famous high school in cinematic history, Hogwarts for its upcoming sequels.

Obviously, we’re not going to the wizarding world, but focusing on the JK Rowling’s book-by-book yearly format. Talking to Collider, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige said "Should we be able to make more after that? Sure.

“This is sophomore year – is the next one junior year? Is the next one senior year? Is there a summer break between each of those?

“I don’t know what, but sort of, ‘How do we do a journey for Peter not dissimilar for what the students of Hogwarts would go through each of their years?’, which was one of the early ideas we had for the movies.”

Feige also talked about the process of mapping out the new Spider-Man, adding “The first step was reintroduce a new Spider-Man into the Marvel Cinematic Universe in Civil War and have people leave the theatre saying, ‘I love that Spider-Man. I wanna see more of him.’

“I think that’s happened. The next step is making a great Spider-Man: Homecoming and a great film that showcases Spider-Man in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and makes everybody fall in love with him all over again.”

Feige previously suggested the film could also have a John Hughes vibe, so the prospect of meshing Harry Potter and The Breakfast Club is exciting, but I still worry about comparing it to a Hughes classic.

Tom Holland will make his full web-slinging appearance in Homecoming and will be joined by Robert Downey Jr’s Iron Man, Aunt May played by Marisa Tomei, Tony Revolori as Flash Thompson and Michael Keaton (reportedly as The Vulture).

Spider-Man: Homecoming swings into cinemas on July 7th, 2017.
