Aquaman's Villain Has Been Revealed

If you didn’t think Warner Bros were powering through with their DC cinematic universe then this week should prove it. First The Wrap revealed WB has put Man of Steel 2 in “active development” and now The Wrap's super scooper Umberto Gonzalez has found out the villain that Jason Momoa’s “Aquaman” will be up against in the standalone film.

The Wrap has learnt the film’s bad guy will be Aquaman’s greatest foe, Black Manta. For those who don’t know this character is, he’s Aquaman’s deadliest and most famous opponent and apart of DC lore.

He was first introduced in 1967 and he’s had different origin stories including being a man in a suit with no innate super powers (similar to Batman, but he’s hell-bent on revenge). The latest version, Aquaman killed his father in retaliation for a murder committed by the young Black Manta, which begins Black Manta’s quest for revenge.

The character has also spent time at Belle Reve, during the time Amanda Waller wanted him to join the Suicide Squad. There was even an interesting fun rumour that Common would play Black Manta before the rumour was disproven.

When news broke out Michael K Williams (The Wire, Robocop) responded to a fan tweeting out and his desire to see him as the villain, to which Williams responded with the following tweet:

As well as Williams, fans have also put Idris Elba on their list but Elba is on the fancast list for every film from James Bond to many peoples lover.

To be honest, if Warner Bros/DC Films did cast Elba to star opposite Momoa then the aisles will be flooded with women, I’m not judging they’re incredibly sexy men.
