Normally I wouldn’t write a story like this because reshoots for major blockbuster are as common as anything else when making a movie. In fact, studios plan to do reshoots in advance.
However, Peter Bart and Mike Fleming Jr, two old friends who have worked in the industry for decades, caught up for their weekly column for Deadline and Fleming said something interesting. “They keep news about Star Wars locked up like Fort Knox, but I heard on those Rogue One re-shoot, it was Tony Gilroy behind the camera and not Gareth Edwards.”

If you probably won't know who Gilroy is, but you'll know is work. He has written the previous four Bourne films, been a consulting producer for Netflix's House of Cards, produced Nightcrawler and directed The Bourne Legacy.
This led to The Hollywood Reporter to do some more digging with their sources and they said Gilroy has been empowered to take a lead on postproduction, but stress director Edwards remains involved in the project.

Adding, the 59-year-old is “supervising” the edit with input from Edwards and this shouldn’t come as a shock they’re collaborating as they previously did it for Edwards’ last film, Godzilla.
Sources also tell THR “There are not two separate editing rooms; they are all in there with their ideas,” adding “Tony’s a strong force, but they’re all working together.”

Like I said above, I wouldn’t normally report on this because reshoots are a non-story; however, to me, this seems a little different. Nothing for me to get worried about because I expect the film to be an awesome war movie set in the Star Wars world.
It’s just when you hear about someone taking over from someone else’s vision especially since the behind the scenes featurette shown at Star Wars Celebration was great. On the other hand, Disney knows what it takes to make a successful film just look at any film from the best two years and I highly guarantee at least all of them have made over $100 million opening weekend.
