A Secret Life of Pets Sequel Set For 2018 Release Date

It’s easy to say The Secret Life of Pets has been this summer’s biggest hit after now passing $403.2 million dollars, so it should come to no one’s surprise that Illumination Entertainment is already switching on the green light for a sequel.

The original film centred around a dog trying to get rid of his new flatmate and fellow pooch and finding himself on an adventure on the streets of New York and runs into a bunny who has a vendetta against humans.

It’s become Illumination’s second major franchise after Despicable Me and spinoff Minions series. Universal are so happy by how much money they’re making they’ve set a release date of July 13th, 2018 in the States.

Director Chris Renaud is returning to helm the film and will be reteaming with writer Brian Lynch.

It’s surprising the studio is giving two years to get this film in cinemas because that is a short turnaround, especially if you look at the four to five years Disney and Pixar take to get their films completed, so it could be Illumination had already put in plans for a sequel before the original came out.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Louis C.K and Kevin Hart return to voicing duties with the addition of a few returning and new voices.
