Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain To Star In The Division

Video game company Ubisoft have announced Jake Gyllenhaal and Jessica Chastain will be starting in their next cinematic adaptation The Division, a post-apocalyptic MMO (massively multiplayer online).

This would be the second time Gyllenhaal goes into the video game world after previously starring in Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time and despite making slightly over $335 million, it wasn’t received well by critics or audiences alike and had some major whitewashing issues.

However, The Division seems to be more of a decent choice to be turned into a film as it’s basically a war film and having someone as talented as Chastain included can only mean good things as her skills were showcased in Zero Dark Thirty.

“We are excited to collaborate with Jessica and Jake, two of Hollywood’s most talented actors and perfect creative collaborators to help bring Tom Clancy’s The Division to the big screen”, said Gerard Guillemot, Chief Executive Officer, Ubisoft Motion Pictures.

The project will be handled by Gyllenhaal’s Nine Stories Productions and Chastain’s Freckle Films with Jake also be attached as producer.

No details on the plot and character haven’t been released, but since the game is hugely popular with players and became the biggest selling game ever, it's likely character names will be taken from the game.

The success of Ubisoft's cinematic adventure will balance on the success of Assassin’s Creed starring Michael Fassbender and will arrive in cinemas on December 21.
