It’s been 14 years since we last saw Billy Bob Thornton being the jolly, drunk, angry Santa to terrify kids and trying to have sex with their mums in Bad Santa. Now, fast forward to 2016 and Thornton’s Saint prick is back in Bad Santa 2.
As you can see from the stills below, nothing has changed as making their names on the naughty list, next to Thornton’s Willie T. Soke, are Santa’s little helper Marcus (Tony Cox) and Thurman Merman (Brett Kelly). However, not returning was Terry Zwigoff (directed Bad Santa) and gave the reins to Mean Girls’ Mark Waters.

Kelly spoke to USA Today about returning to the character after living “an extremely normal and boring life” which included him gaining 40 pounds.
“We said: ‘By the way, we’re doing Bad Santa 2. So get in shape, or the opposite of shape’” said Walters. “Brett looks like the spitting image of the kid Thurman, but older. When he walked on set, it was even more jaw-dropping in some ways than seeing (Thornton).”
Expect to see the same crazy mayhem and the same grossed out and offensive humour from the trio that made the 2003 original a cult classic in homes across both sides of the pond.
This time, Soke and Marcus attempt to rob a Chicago charity on Christmas Eve, with the inclusion of Kathy Bates as Willie’s crime-boss mother, and it turns into a turf dispute and an all-out brawl.

The other newcomer is Christina Hendricks as good-hearted charity director with a sex drive to match Willie’s.
The first time I saw this film, I think I just turned 13, maybe 14, and I watched it with my dad and I loved it and so did he. I don’t like Christmas and I hate Christmas movies even more (apart from Love Actually and Home Alone), but there’s something about Willie as a character that’s bloody hilarious.
I’m not expecting this to be as good as the original; as long as Thornton is on his A-game then I’ll most likely enjoy it.
Bad Santa 2 arrives in UK cinemas on November 25th and Stateside two days earlier.
