Jared Leto Joins Blade Runner Sequel

Just when you thought Denis Villeneuve couldn’t be more properly in the sci-fi genre, thanks to this amazing trailer for Arrival. He’s also the man to direct the upcoming Blade Runner sequel and with shooting already starting, news comes out that they’re adding new cast member.

According to Deadline, Jared Leto has come aboard joining Ryan Gosling and Harrison Ford for the yet untitled follow-up.

The sequel, script written by Michael Green (Alien: Covenant, untitled Wolverine 3) and the original movie’s co-writer Hampton Fancher, is set decades after the first film with the Earth’s environment dropping down to an even worst condition. That’s all we know, it’s still unknown what the story is about or how Rick Deckard (Ford) is involved.

This means we have no idea what Leto will be doing in the film, but he has joined a talented cast from American and European cinema, led by Gosling and Ford, including Robin Wright, Ana de Armas, Sylvia Hoeks, Carla Juri, Mackenzie Davis, Barkhad Abdi, David Dastmalchian, Hiam Abbass, Lennie James and Dave Bautista.

The original film director Ridley Scott is involved in the project as well as an executive producer. This new Blade Runner is set to land in cinemas on 6th October 2017.

Fun fact: Ryan Gosling was originally Warner Bros first choice to play The Joker in Suicide Squad before Jared Leto took the role.
