Just in case you didn’t know by now, Superman is alive! I know we were all worried at the end of Batman v Superman. Although Supes story has been on the backburner as Warner Bros expands the DC Universe building towards Justice League, the studio is still committed to giving Henry Cavill’s man of steel another standalone film.
Sources close to The Wrap said the project is going into “active development” and is a top priority for the studio and getting the character right for audiences is of tantamount importance.

This is all the info we know, but Warner Bros have slated two dates – October 2018 and November 2019 – for DC projects and it’s easy to assume the Man of Steel sequel will get the second date, depending if Ben Affleck feels his co-written Batman script is ready for him to direct and star.
The original film was released in 2013, directed by Zack Snyder and produced by Christopher Nolan “Man of Steel” earned an impressive $668 million at the global box office and started the DC Cinematic/Extended Universe, followed up by BvS and Suicide Squad.
When this news broke out I (like many fanboys and girls) got excited because, for me anyway, “Man of Steel” is one of the best comic book movies ever made. It’s a near perfect film. It’s mainly because Cavill has added depth to a character that for a long time was boring, cheesy and dull.

Plus, Cavill deserves to be the Superman everyone knows in the comics and in the Richard Donner films and because we’ve been with him in MoS and BvS, seeing him finding his place in the world. The joy of the audience will be that much sweeter.
I also feel this has Geoff Johns fingers all over it. After he was announced as President of DC Entertainment and co-head of DC Films.
Finally, the only thing that would make this film better is if Hans Zimmer comes out of superhero film conducting and makes the music because his “Man of Steel” soundtrack is one of the greatest scores ever.

Now Suicide Squad is released, the DCU welcomes Wonder Woman to the big screen starring Gal Gadot in the title role and we’ll learn the origin of the Amazonian warrior in June 2017.
