Get ready ladies and gentleman because there’s a new action hero coming to our cinemas and that man is Stan Lee.
You heard me. The iconic creator of many of your beloved Marvel characters and who makes countless cameo appearances is getting a story to tell his life, but with a difference.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Twentieth Century Fox (the studio behind Deadpool, X-Men and Fantastic Four franchise) have required Lee’s life rights and the studio is thinking of creating a period action-adventure movie.
Marty Bowen and Wyck Godfrey (producers behind movies like Twilight, The Maze Runner and the upcoming Power Rangers film) have been attached to produce and they’ve described they’re looking at tones similar to Kingsman: The Secret Service or Roger Moore’s 007.
Lee and Gil Champion, Lee’s partner at POW! Entertainment, will be executive producers on the project.
THR has also stated the film won’t be a biopic, but instead it’ll an adventure with Lee as the main character. With Fox looking towards Kingsman and Moore-era James Bond expect many witty one-liners, flirting with the ladies and just over the top set pieces.
No writers have been attached, but if they’re not busy with the Deadpool or Zombieland sequels, I’d try and get Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick.
On the other hand, if the Han Solo film isn’t taking up too much time, why not try and get Phil Lord and Chris Miller to write and direct.
This could be my favourite story of this week. I love the idea of turning Stan Lee into an action hero. I also love they’re looking at Kingsman and Moore’s Bond films because Roger Moore is my favourite Bond.
