The Harley Quinn Movie Is Set To Happen After Margot Robbie Signs Frist-Look Deal With Warner Bros

Looks like the Harley Quinn movie will be happening.

The reason is Margot Robbie has signed a first-look deal with Warner Bros.

She will produce feature films under her LuckyChap Entertainment banner and joining Robbie in producing and developing will be her LuckyChap colleagues Tom Ackerley, Josey McNamara and Sophia Kerr.

It’s amazing to think Robbie is still only 26-years-old and even though the world first met the Aussie actress in Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, she’ll always be Donna Freeman in Neighbours to me.

Robbie has followed the footsteps of many actors and actresses in Hollywood who are making an impact both on and off screen and moving to the world of producing.

Robbie and LuckyChap are getting busy, their first produced film a neo-noir thriller called Terminal is in post-production. They’re also developing and producing a Tonya Harding biopic called I, Tonya, where the actress will be playing the disgraced figure skater, and they’re also developing an adaptation of Bad Monkeys, a Matt Ruff novel, for Universal along with Bluegrass Films’ Scott Stuber and Dylan Clark.

Warner Bros have built a relationship with the Aussie and has become a darling for the studio after starring in Focus and The Legend of Tarzan and she was also one of the main reasons to why Suicide Squad become a box office success grossing over $700 million worldwide.

The actress has two projects set at Warner; one is the Suicide Squad spinoff of her beloved character (plus other DC heroines and villainess’) and she’ll be executive producing and is attached to star in an adaption of Dean N. Jensen’s Queen of the Air.

This deal seems to be one of the many things Warner Bros is trying to underline a renewed focus on getting more female-driven storytelling. This includes Wonder Woman, being the first ever female-led superhero film, and the studio looking for a female director and you also have Ocean’s Ocho, a female-centric update on Ocean’s 11 and will feature an A-list female ensemble cast.
