Deadpool 2 - Domino Casting Shortlist Includes Sienna Miller, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and Ruby Rose

After making over $782 million dollars at the worldwide box office, a Deadpool sequel was always in the works and with director Tim Miller returning and development well into the process. The film’s producers are now at casting a key female role.

According to Collider, up to 10 actresses have been testing for the role of Domino and those actresses being considered are – Lizzy Caplan (Masters of Sex), Ruby Rose (Orange is the New Black), Sienna Miller (American Sniper, Layer Cake), Mary Elizabeth Winstead (10 Cloverfield Lane, Scott Pilgrim vs The World), Mackenzie Davis (Halt and Catch Fire), Sofia Boutella (Star Trek Beyond, Kingsman: The Secret Service), Sylvia Hoeks (Overspel), Eve Hewson (The Knick), Stephanie Sigman (Spectre) and Kelly Rohrbach (Baywatch).

ROHRBACH

To give a little backstory to Domino, she’s a mercenary and mutant (like Deadpool) and her powers include the ability to use telekinetic acts to turn things to her favour. Plus, she has a personal connection to fellow mutant Cable and throughout the comics, they’ve been partners and lovers and she’s also a frenemy of Deadpool. As we all know from the post-credit scene, Cable will be in Deadpool 2 and this makes perfect scene Domino would be in the sequel.

When you look at the shortlist, Miller has a great mix of established actresses and up-and-comers, for example, Winstead and Miller have long CVs and some experience in action. Meanwhile, Dutch actress Hoeks will be starring in her first English-speaking role in Denis Villeneuve’s sequel Blade Runner 2049 and Boutella is becoming more noticed for her roles in Kingsman and Star Trek and will be starring opposite Tom Cruise in Universal’s monster movie The Mummy.

Sources have told Collider testing has already begun which could mean Miller, Ryan Reynolds and Fox have either cast the actor to play Cable or they’ll still looking at their shortlist.

Filming for Deadpool 2 is set to get underway in early 2017, but no release date has been set. This means Fox is giving Miller and co the time to make the best sequel possible instead for chasing dates.
