Oscar-nominated actress Naomie Harris joins Dwayne Johnson’s monster flick Rampage, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
The James Bond star will be fighting giant monsters alongside The Rock in New Line Cinema’s project based on the 1980 video game.
The film will be reuniting Johnson with New Line, after the success of summer buddy cop comedy Central Intelligence, producer Beau Flynn and director Brad Peyton. Both Peyton and Johnson have previously worked together on Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and San Andreas.
Details about Rampage are being kept close, but THR is reporting New Line are looking to shake up the monster movie formula. Like the video game, the film features three creatures – a monstrously transformed gorilla, crocodile and wolf (because why not) – they wreak havoc across North American cities and landmarks.
Of course, Johnson is the animal loving hero and the only person who can save the world because why not.
Harris meanwhile joined the project because of the fun tone of the script and she’ll be playing a geneticist with a moral streak.
Expect Johnson and Harris’ characters to full in love at the end of the film.
Rampage is scheduled to be release in the US and UK on April 20, 2018.
