It's Morphin Time As The First Official Power Rangers Trailer Is Released

“It’s Morphin Time” from the majority of kids from the 90s grew up hearing those words on a Saturday morning eating breakfast, now it’s to relive those memories and introduce a new generation to the utterly campy world of Power Rangers.

Yesterday (Thursday 19th January) Lionsgate released the first official trailer for Power Rangers and I have to admit, similar to the teaser previously, this trailer was really good and I’m becoming more interested in seeing this film. Check out the trailer below.

Don’t get me wrong, it still has a high percentage of being terrible, but at the moment with the images coming out and with the teaser and now this trailer this film could be a surprise hit.

It’s not going to be on anyone’s top 10 lists come to the end of the year, but it could be a fun, entertaining, campy film, but still has some groundedness to it.

It’s aimed at the Twilight, Hunger Games 12A/PG-13 audience with plenty of beautiful teenagers being/looking angsty, relationships, them finding themselves and it means to be a hero/Power Ranger.

There’s also lots of jumping.

As I said above, I liked it. We know more of the story, the jokes were cheesy and being a smile to the face similar to the TV show, the suits in action look good, there’s plenty of colour, Alpha 5 works in this film and Bill Hader voice is perfect. Elizabeth Bank’s looks to be a really good villain and seeing Bryan Cranston as Zordon was done well as it looks modern and keeps to the original, but he does look like one of these.

I don’t expect it to be a critical hit, but I’m hopeful it’ll be fun and entertaining enough and I am looking forward to seeing it and bring back my childhood.

“Saban’s Power Rangers follows five ordinary high school kids who must become something extraordinary when they learn their small town of Angel Grove – and the world – is on the verge of being obliterated by an alien threat. Chosen by destiny, our heroes quickly discover that they are the only ones who can save the planet. But to do so they will have to overcome their real-life issues and band together as Power Rangers before it is too late.”

Starring Dacre Montgomery, Becky G, RJ Cyler, Namoi Scott and Ludi Lin, alongside Elizabeth Banks and Bryan Cranston.

Power Rangers morphs (sorry awful pun) into cinemas March 23.
