With Wonder Woman making her way to cinemas this summer and Justice League coming out in November, the next film in the DCU is Jason Momoa’s Aquaman.
The project is currently in pre-production with the cast a crew flying out to Australia around March/April and we saw director James Wan post an image of his slightly small cast at a table read.

While talking to Digital Trends, Momoa has read the full script and reveals this film will be something we’ve never seen before.
“The cool thing with Aquaman is how it taps into the native culture and that’s something that we’re only taught a little about, so there’s a lot of interesting things,” he explained.
“I read the script and let me put it this way, I’ve never seen a movie that’s anything like this. It’s going to be a world that you’ve never seen before, which is really cool. We went to space, we travelled all over different worlds, but we never went underwater.

“So it’s just a really cool spin on what’s below and it uses a lot of great movies that I already love – whether that be Raiders of the Lost Ark to Star Wars to Lord of the Rings to Romancing the Stone.”
Momoa added, “It has a lot of really cool adventure, it’s funny and heroic, and there’s a lot of different characters and of different worlds that we get to go to.”
Oddly, Aquaman has been one of my most anticipated comic book films and I’m even looking forward to seeing the King of Atlantis on the big screen more than most DCU future like The Flash and The Batman. This is mainly down to Momoa just trying Arthur Curry into a badass and Wan is a fantastic director.

While being “funny and heroic”, Wan has previously spoken at San Diego Comic Con promising he’ll bring the scary to the film.
“I love the fact that he’s never really been portrayed in the feature movie world before and the opportunity to explore this universe, you know, bring a bit of my horror element into this… the deep sea is a scary world. And then also explore the wondrous world of Atlantis. That’s all I have to say.”
Finally, Momoa is getting pumped to get started.
“I read the script and just started training for it and I can’t wait.
“I’ve spent a lot of time in this industry, so I’m excited to put all m energy into it and completely f**k some shit up” he added.
Aquaman is slated for a 5th October 2018 release.
