Following the massive box-office success (despite critics reviews) of Suicide Squad, it was only common sense Warner Bros would want to make a sequel because who doesn’t like money?
According to The Hollywood Reporter, WB is in negotiations with Adam Cozad (The Legend of Tarzan) to write the sequel.

THR also reveals the sequel is a priority for the studio and they’re focusing on getting the right story.
They’re also looking at a handful of directors, including Mel Gibson, but no one is attached at the moment.
I didn’t see Tarzan, but I heard mix things about it and it was a successful film for Warner Bros grossing $356 million worldwide. Also, if Gibson was announced as the films’ director it changes the story because you’ll know it’ll be R-rated with plenty of violence and blood.
However, following the success of Deadpool and Logan, I can easily see Suicide Squad 2 going for an R-rating as I think it's a film that can benefit from it.
