It looks like The Batman will be coming later than sooner.
As this week Variety’s Justin Kroll posted an update to the timeline of The Batman and as thought, the likeliest release for Batman will be in 2019.
Hearing Matt Reeves contracted to work on APES till at least end of June, so production on BATMAN likely not starting till 2018— Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) 14 March 2017
Also means any casting rumors you hear are likely BS seeing that he wouldn't have time to meet with any talent till at least July— Justin Kroll (@krolljvar) 14 March 2017
The main reason for the delay is down to director Matt Reeves’s contract with 20th Century Fox and working on his other helmed project War for the Planet of the Apes.
It’s understandable since Reeves will be focusing on post-production, getting all the CGI completed and working on the final cut of the film before it hits cinemas and I think I can say for a lot of APES fans this is a good thing as we want the best APES film possible and the film the trailers are promoting.
The film doesn’t come out until July 14 and when you add the worldwide press tour, Reeves will he some time to relax before going full steam ahead on another franchise film with a massive production and shooting schedule.
I think most of us will be fine with The Batman to come out in 2019, but I do expect Reeves and Affleck will be on stage together at San Diego Comic-Con this year.
