After battling Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, we could be saying goodbye to Captain America and Iron Man.
Rumours of Chris Evans future in the Marvel Cinematic Universe have been flying around recently and in his most recent comments, Evans has not only hinted to his own future but also Robert Downey Jr departure.
“I’d be lying if I said it wouldn’t be hard for me, but the passing of time and the passing of the touches is part of the experience,” Evans told USA Today.
“Nothing lasts forever. There’s a beauty in that departure, even if it can be sad at times. It’s also joyful.”
The 35-year-old then went on to drop a surprising bombshell ”Downey is far closer to reaching that point where he may walk away. And I don’t know how you replace Downey as Tony Stark. I don’t know who else can touch that.”
Evans own comments about staying on as Cap have been similar to previous statements, but he has also said he would stay on as Steve Rogers if Marvel wants to keep him on (to be honest, they probably do).
It does seem we’ll see Captain America until Avengers 4, but Phase Four Avengers will look very different.
“I’ve had a great run. Superheroes are reinventable entities, like Batman or even James Bond. These movies find new incarnations and new ways to tell the story. I am all for it” added Evans.
“However they want to proceed after Avengers 4, it’s really up to them. I walk away with no regrets and endlessly thankful.”
It is understandable Downey Jr and Evans could be walking away around about Avengers: Infinity War/ Avengers 4 time as I do think (and hope) some deaths will be coming to the MCU in a major way since Death will be in Infinity War.
I don’t think it’ll end with just Iron Man and Captain America, I can see Chris Hemsworth’s Thor passing away, Scarlet Witch (Elizabeth Olsen), Hawkeye (Jeremy Rinner) and Black Widow played by Scarlett Johansson could all die.
Who will replace these fallen Avengers in the Infinity War sequel? Spider – Man (Tom Holland) will replace Iron Man’s role, Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Benedict Cumberbatch's Doctor Strange (replacing Thor), Hulk (Mark Ruffalo), Falcon (Anthony Mackie), Winter Solider (maybe?) played by Sebastian Stan, Ant-Man (Paul Rudd), Wasp (Evangeline Lilly) and Brie Larson's Captain Marvel (replacing Captain America).
Avengers: Infinity War will be coming to UK cinemas on April 27, 2018.
