It Looks Like Daniel Craig Is Coming Back As James Bond

With Bond 25 currently in the process of being written and in development, but one important element is still up in the air and that is whether or not Daniel Craig will be returning.

Now it looks like Craig will be wearing the tux one more time.

Speculation over Craig’s future as Bond has been going ever since the release of Spectre back in 2015 when he was doing the press tour and just looked bored, tired and fed-up and it seemed he wouldn’t be returning and someone new would take over.

However, according to Page Six (and well-known film journalists), the actor looks ready to return and sign on once again. On the other hand, this is also due to Bond bosses branding their original top choice, Tom Hiddleston for being “too smug and not tough enough” for the role by Barbara Broccoli, top franchise producer and daughter of stalwart Albert.

Hiddleston emerged as a frontrunner after this brilliant Golden Globe winning performance in The Night Manager last summer, but it looks like his public short term relationship with Taylor Swift was the nail in the coffin and “sealed his fate.”

Sources told Page Six “Barbara Broccoli doesn’t like Tom Hiddleston, he’s a bit too smug and not tough enough to play James Bond.

Hiddleston’s cringe-making romance with Taylor Swift sealed his fate with Bond producers, followed by his self-righteous Golden Globes speech, pontificating about his trip to South Sudan, and how Doctors Without Borders ‘binge-watched’ his series” they added.

What seemingly helped soften Craig’s negativity of returning was his lead role opposite David Oyelowo in Broccoli’s recent off-Broadway production of Othello. It was designed to provide the 49-year-old with the serious acting recognition he has been wanting since being Bond back in 2006.

“Daniel was very pleased with how Othello went and the great reviews” stated the source.

Adding, “Now Daniel’s talks with Barbara are going in the right direction. They have a script – screenwriting duo Neal Purvis and Robert Wade are writing and they’ll go into production as soon as Daniel is ready to commit.”

Meanwhile, another source told the paper due to the actor’s enjoyment being the play that he is “ready to do a final Bond.”

What also helps is the massive pay day Craig will get to be Bond once again.

Purvis and Wade are no strangers to penning James Bond screenplays having worked on all seven recent films including Spectre, Skyfall, Quantum of Solace, Casino Royale, Die Another Day and The World Is Not Enough.
