My feelings towards Marvel are of this, out of the seven films I’ve seen from this studio is they’re a bit overrated, besides Doctor Strange and Captain America: Winter Solider. Even with the original film, I thought Chris Pratt, Rocket and the music were the only good things in an alright movie.

The same can be said with the sequel, even though it’s a bit worst.

Guardians of the Galaxy Volume 2 return us to the much-loved bunch of misfits from the first film as Peter Quell (Pratt) finally meets his father (Russell).

The first thing is to say this cast have a fantastic chemistry and it’s fun to watch the banter between the characters, which just comes naturally and you do get a real sense of family.  However, I never felt they grew together as a unit as they’re off doing their own story (more on that in a minute).

In Pratt, they have a fantastically charismatic lead and he works well with anyone he’s on screen. Including Russell where they showed dramatic acting and it made you care about Star Lord’s story.

Elsewhere, Rocket (Cooper) and Drax (Bautista) were likeable bring the comedy and to give Bautista some credit he got his comic timing down to a tee. On the other hand, if you’ve got a character called Drax THE DESTROYER and he doesn’t do anything after the opening act, what’s the point of him being there?

A lot of the characters don’t do a hell of a lot with Gamora (Saldana) and Nebula (Gillian) have nothing special in the film. Even though Gillian’s does overact with her evil voice and face, she does give us some insight into why Thanos is a dick.

Let’s move on to the pointless, annoying (not in a good way) villains - the gold people led by Elizabeth Debicki. It’s amazing how Marvel can really balls up villains in their films (mainly because they don’t care). When you think they’re gone from the film and you forget, they pop up at random times throughout the films.

Back to the story part, there isn’t one. Characters are doing their own thing for a lot of the time and honestly, I didn’t care about anyone of them besides Pratt and Russell.

I don’t want to sound like I flat out hated this film. I didn’t, there were some good things like for example, the comedy in some places and it was fun. Furthermore, James Gunn has done a brilliant job directing and the visuals were gorgeous.

The downside of the comedy was the gags were nonstop and it began to get too much as they’re all sounds so similar. Not going to lie, with so many characters that crack jokes in Infinity War it has me worried.

I guarantee so many people will not agree with this review and will have a fantastic time watching and they should! Don’t let people tell you what to think, if you liked it then that’s awesome.

Just for me personally as someone wants to love these Marvel films (like I want to love all films) there’s something about them that just doesn’t work for me, but this will not stop my excitement for Spider-Man: Homecoming and Thor: Ragnarok.

Verdict
While fun and funny in places and a great performance from Chris Pratt, but there's no clear story make you care about these characters.
