Mahershala Ali and Brain Tyree Henry Join Animated Spider-Man Film

Despite getting the sack from Lucasfilm filmmakers Phil Lord and Chris Miller still have projects to handle with one of them being Sony’s animated Spider-Man movie.

As well as Spider-Man: Homecoming, Lord and Miller are bringing the highly popular Miles Morales incarnation of the web-swinger to the big screen to the joy of comic book/Spidey fans for the first time ever and in this animated Marvel Universe, Peter Parker has fallen.

The duo are writing and producing the movie and they have just added two cast members with one them being an Oscar winner!

The Tracking Board revealed Moonlight star Mahershala Ali will be playing Morales’ Uncle Aaron Davis. Meanwhile, Atlanta’s Brian Tyree Henry is cast as the hero’s principled detective father Jefferson Davis.

While Aaron has a close relationship with his nephew, he leads a double life as the notorious cat burglar known as Prowler and Aaron is the reason why Miles becomes Spider-Man.
