The core trio of James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender and Jennifer Lawrence from First Class are returning to the X-mansion one more time for X-Men: Dark Phoenix and they’ll be joined by Jessica Chastain.
According to Deadline, the trio – alongside Nicholas Hoult as Dr Hank McCoy (aka Beast) – will be a part of the next instalment of the X-Men franchise and 20th Century Fox confirmed the long rumour that Simon Kinberg will be directing.
Sophie Turner, Alexandra Shipp, Tye Sheridan and Kodi Smit-McPhee will also be reprising their roles from X-Men: Apocalypse.
Meanwhile, they’ll also be joined by Chastain, who is in talks to play the villain Shi’ar Empress Lilandra.

This is a pretty big gamble from Fox to give a first time director in Kinberg, one of the most beloved comic book stories and the best X-Men story of all time. The positive side of things is 43-year-old has been a key member of the creative team since writing 2006’s X-Men: The Last Stand.
He has also written and produced X-Men: Days of Future Past and X-Men: Apocalypse. Plus been attached as a producer on X-Men spinoff Deadpool and now Deadpool 2 (currently shooting), as well as New Mutants and X-Men: First Class.
Finally, the studio confirmed it has a US release date of November 2, 2018.
