We could be seeing Suicide Squad 2 sooner than expected, but we shouldn’t take this as official.
During an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rick Flagg himself Joel Kinnaman talks about the sequel and when we could possibly see it.
“As far as I know they’re writing the script and I think the plan is to shoot it sometime in 2018, but that could change. I think I’ll definitely come back for it,” he said.

Kinnaman went on to add “Ultimately, I’d love for David Ayer to direct it, but if doesn’t want to direct it then someone who is great with character and that’s able to ground the story and maybe put these characters in more normal situation.
“It would be really interesting to see these crazy characters interact with regular people as well.”
Sadly for Kinnaman, David Ayer won’t be available for the next instalment of Task Force X as he’s currently working on Gotham City Sirens with Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn.
Warner Bros are currently looking at a number of directors to helm Suicide Squad sequel with Mel Gibson potentially favourite to direct, but no one has been confirmed as the studio wants to focus on getting the story right before getting a director.

Meanwhile, Guy Ritchie revealed he’d quite fancy giving it a go saying, “I quite fancy doing Suicide Squad 2, because I thought I could do a good job with it.
“I can’t do it because I’m doing something else. But… I’m a guy that likes to work, so I’m gonna work. And I’ll work with whatever I can to make it work. I’ve felt I could really do something with that.”
Don’t get me wrong, I like Ritchie’s latest directed film King Arthur it’s a guilty pleasure, but it lost a lot of money for Warner Bros. However, I’d like to see the conversations between the Squad members in a Snatch style.
Personally, I think WB should try a get a director like Chad Stahelski from John Wick, The Raid’s Gareth Evans or Dredd’s Pete Travis.
