Get ready to hear the reversing of a load of trucks full of money as Patty Jenkins is about to get paid for her work on Wonder Woman before shooting the sequel.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Gal Gadot is already optioned for a sequel as part of her multi-film deal with Warner Bros and DC Films. However, Jenkins was only enlisted to film the original movie (after Michelle MacLaren left the project) and now Jenkins and her reps have all the cards to get paid, costing the studio millions.
Rightly so, the 45-year-old filmmaker did an absolutely fantastic job directing Wonder Woman and deserves everything she gets from Warner Bros. Plus with the fans and critics overly positive reaction to this film, WB basically has no choice.

Meanwhile, I wouldn’t blame the studio for only getting Jenkins on a one-film-deal as THR reports this is “standard practice at Warner Bros. for directors taking on a big-budget studio film for the first time.”
Which is good to see studios not automatically hiring directors/actors to multi-picture deals and see how the film does before greenlighting sequel, but the only downside is they’ll be paying much more for her.
THR added, “Jenkins could not only return to the director’s chair on Wonder Woman 2 but also could ink a more expansive deal that would allow her to work with DC Entertainment president and chief creative officer Geoff Johns on a script treatment for that movie a possibly others as well.”
This is super exciting as, again, Jenkins deserves all of it and in my case, we could see her getting a little more.
As well as directing and writing Wonder Woman 2, but I wouldn’t be surprised if she gets a first look deal at Warner Bros. Plenty of fans would love Jenkins directing Man of Steel 2 because of her love for Richard Donner’s Superman, on the other hand, I think she’ll be one better and direct Justice League 2.

Finally, WB needs to move fast because studios like Disney and Lucasfilm will like to negotiate with her reps to work on a live action reimaging of Disney animation or a Star Wars spin-off/saga.
