San Diego Comic Con 2017 Day One

San Diego Comic Con official began yesterday (20 July) with 20th Century Fox and Netflix taking control of Hall H.

Yesterday, I wrote a list of what we could expect to see at these panels and when it comes to Fox and Netflix I was 50/50. I called some things right and I misjudged some things massively, we also got a little surprise.

20th Century Fox

The way the Fox panel came seemed a bit odd, to be honest. This could’ve been a great chance to come out all guns blazing and set the standard right away, but they didn’t.

The studios focused solely on Kingsman: The Golden Circle and they seemed to have pleased fans inside the convention.

Even though I thought the smarter idea would to have the new trailer premiere in Hall H, Fox released the trailer online first hours before their panel and you should check out the brilliant trailer below!

But Matthew Vaughn (via a video message) did show three exclusive clips. One of the film’s opening scene, another of the introducing  Channing Tatum’s character and The Statesman and finally an introduction of Julianne Moore’s villainous Poppy.

The panel sounded like a good time with cast pouring whisky and Hallie Berry appeared to down her drink to a huge applause from the crowd.

That was it from Fox, some fans (including me) were a little disappointed with the fact there was no Marvel/X-Men news as I thought this would’ve been the perfect time to release images of the cast of Deadpool 2 and New Mutants.

However, it sounded like overall the fans had a fun time with the Kingsman cast and clips.

Netflix

As expected David Ayer brought the first official trailer for Bright and it looks pretty decent and I look forward to giving this a watch in December.

We’re also getting an album based on the film, it was massively successful for Suicide Squad so why not do it again.

Meanwhile, with the trailer for Death Note recently dropping, the crowd got to see a clip from the film where Light (Nat Wolff) is goaded into writing the name of a young man who is attacking a young woman at his school.

Check out the clip below.

Finally, we also got the teaser trailer for the John Boyega led Pacific Rim: Uprising.
