Forget about the main X-Men universe and their Dark Phoenix, it’s now all about Deadpool and his part of this side X-Men universe as 20th Century Fox has found their director for X-Force.
Deadline has revealed Drew Goddard has been set with the
task of writing and directing the Black Ops mutant team led by Deadpool and
Cable as they handle the dirtier jobs and be more ruthless than their X-Men
counterparts.
Simon Kinberg, Ryan Reynolds and Lauren Shuler Donner will
be attached producing with Reynolds’ Deadpool at the centre of the film and he’ll
be joined by Josh Brolin will reprise his role as Cable for the upcoming team
up.
Goddard is becoming a major part of Fox family with his next
directing role will be Bad Times at the El Royale, starring Chris Hemsworth and
Jeff Bridges, for the studio and he was originally direct The Martian, a film
he wrote before stepping down for Ridley Scott taking over.

The reason he stepped aside is that he wanted to direct his script for the Spider-Man villain spinoff The Sinister Six. That was until Sony changed plans and gave co-ownership and film rights back to Marvel Studios.
After spearheading the launch for Netflix series Daredevil,
Goddard has been on course to helm a film in a superhero franchise for a while
now and X-Force is a pretty perfect match. Even though, it’s going to be likely
to be compared to Suicide Squad and obviously be better.
However, I am a little bummed because he was my dark horse
to direct Justice League Dark, but either way, Goddard to helm this R-rated
superhero flick is ideal.
