Sony In Talks With Michelle Williams To Join Venom Opposite Tom Hardy

Sony could be bringing in another big marquee actor. This time the studio is in talks with Michelle Williams.

Variety revealed Williams would be playing a lawyer and could be a love interest for Hardy’s Eddie Brock/Venom.

The US website has also confirmed that Emmy winning Riz Ahmed is now attached to the project, which will be directed by Zombieland’s Ruben Fleisher.

They added “Sony execs and Fleisher had been meeting with multiple actresses for the part for the past month, with production beginning next month. Sony recently released the trailer for Ridley Scott’s ‘All the Money in the World,’ which is already generating Oscar buzz for Williams.”

This is why Sony is looking to bring in a talented actress like Williams as she has the pedigree, especially when it comes to the Academy Awards as the 37-year-old has been nominated four times.

I think I’ve previously said I was interested in Sony doing this Spidey-less verse and making a separate Venom movie, though I did understand the majority thinking that this was a stupid idea.

However, the reason why I liked it is that Marvel was never going to do a Venom movie especially if the film (if rumoured) becomes an R-rated action/horror, and this film should be.

Then when Sony announced they secured Tom Hardy in the lead role of Eddie Brock/Venom, I was fully on board because Hardy is one of the worlds most talented and sort after actors. The fact he wanted to do this film should highlight the potential this project has.

Now with Rogue One star Ahmed confirmed to join the cast likely as the villain with the rumour being Carnage.

The film gets better and better and adding four-time Oscar nominee Williams will only do great things.

Even though the story is still unknown, my best bet centres on Brock investigating the history of serial killer Cletus Kasady and his murders for a Daily Bugle article and Williams’ lawyer will be the prosecuting attorney.

Many fans think Williams' lawyer could be Brock's ex-wife Ann Weying aka She-Venom.

Venom is set to hit US cinemas on October 5, 2018.
