Daniel Craig is returning for his final James Bond film and last year there was talk of three names possibly up as contenders, they were Blade Runner 2049’s Denis Villeneuve, David MacKenzie who director Hell or High Water and their top choice was '71 French filmmaker Yann Demange.

However, since Bond 25 is an important movie for everyone involved Variety is reporting MGM and EoN are giving it one final push to get a well-known director with Danny Boyle high on their list.

If you look back at his past films, this is a brilliant choice. Boyle has also been keen to direct a Bond film and it’s possible the Slumdog Millionaire and Sunshine helmer has always been on EoN’s radar back in 2012 for Skyfall and 2015’s Spectre.

Now seems the perfect chance as the likes of Ryan Coolger and Christopher Nolan will want to work on Bond 26 having a fresh start with a fresh 007. Additionally, Boyle would be free as even though he’s busy attached to a project at Working Title but there’s no cast so he could push it back to make way for the 25th instalment in the series.

Variety’s Justin Kroll has stressed his sources added: “that no formal offer has yet been made.”

MGM is set to release the film in the US and internationally it hasn’t been revealed but if it’s similar to Creed and Tomb Raider (both MGM projects) will be released by Warner Brothers.

Bond 25 is set to be released in the US on November 8, 2019, with the UK getting a “traditional earlier release” is announced in due course.
