According to Variety, Pascal has been brought in for a “key role” with details on both his characters and the film kept under wraps.

This casting with see Pascal and Patty Jenkins working together for the second time having previously teamed up for the TV movie Exposed.

Jenkins returning was majorly important for this sequel and the DCU as a whole and now she’ll have more control on this film with directing, writing and more important to fans producing the pic.

The 42-year-old Chilean star gained Hollywood traction after winning praise of his scene-stealing performances as Oberyn Martell in Game of Thrones and the Netflix drama Narcos.

Following these performances, Pascal has moved into movies with roles in last summer’s Kingsman: The Golden Circle and we’ll see him next this summer opposite Denzel Washington in The Equalizer sequel. Additionally, we’ll see him again in the Autumn for Barry Jenkin’s drama If Beale Street Could Talk.

He is currently filming Netflix film Triple Frontier alongside Oscar Isaac, Ben Affleck, Charlie Hunnam and Garrett Hedlund.

Pascal tweeted his excitement saying he’s “joining legends" with the legend that is Jenkins replying.

While DC Fans also tweeted their excitement and theorising what this “key role” could be.

This isn’t the first time Pascal played a character in Wonder Woman having starred as Ed Indelicato in the failed 2011 TV pilot.
