The Fox Searchlight love story ended the night with four awards with Dunkirk dominated the technical categories picking up three. The British film was the lead for a great night for UK film with Gary Oldman completing the clean sweep by finally winning the Leading Actor for his superb performance as Winston Churchill in the Darkest Hour.
The other British successes include another award for Darkest Hour in Makeup and Hairstyling, Costume Design for Phantom Thread and finally, Rachel Shenton and Chris Overton won Best Live Action Short Film for The Silent Child.

McDormand also lead a beautiful awards speech celebrating all the women nominated this year, but it also highlighted how little were nominated and hopefully, this will continue the push to get more female voices in Hollywood if they’re the right person for the project.
