Sony Looking At Chris Hemsworth To Lead Men In Black Spin-Off

It seems being the defender of Earth as an Avenger wasn’t enough for Chris Hemsworth. So he’s swapping his Asgardian armour for a sharp black suit.

Sony is currently in development of a brand-new Men in Black spin-off with Straight Outta Compton and Fast & Furious 8 director F. Gary Grey set to helm the project.

The aim is to tell new stories within this franchise away from the original trilogy that starred Will Smith and Tommy Lee Jones as the secret agents but those characters would’ve operated in this world, similar to Jurassic World is a part of Jurassic Park.

The Thor star Hemsworth is the studios top choice to lead the new Men in Black and is currently in talks to join the project revealed The Hollywood Reporter.

The US website goes on to state the film will be set in London and is set to have a diverse cast, including a black woman and an elderly man in leading roles.

This seems to be coming at the perfect time for the Australian actor as his multi-film Marvel contract comes to an end of the release of Avengers 4 next year.

While Hemsworth would be a great lead and proved in Thor: Ragnarok he has great comedic acting.

However, I wouldn't be against Black Panther’s Winston Duke taking the lead role after his breakout performance in the Marvel Studios film and is set to be hot property and this could be the perfect franchise to be a part of.

As for the female role, Duke’s Panther co-star Letitia Wright, who is a Londoner, will likely be high on the list as will Tiffany Haddish after receiving praise for her role in the comedy Girls Trip.

Then with the elderly man, I won’t be surprised if Charles Dance will be a high choice.

The film’s script will be written by Matt Holloway and Art Marcum, who previously penned Iron Man. The aim is to have this film be released in the US on June 14, 2019.
