Even though a wrote a review for Paddington 2 when the film came out in cinemas last November, I love this film so much I wanted to write a new review for its upcoming DVD/Blu-ray release.

Paddington 2 sees this lovely bear happily settled into life with the brown family on Windsor Gardens and becoming a popular member of the community. Paddington has found the perfect present for his Aunt Lucy’s 100th birthday, a unique pop-up book in Mr Gruber’s antique shop. Paddington beings to save up money to buy it until the book is stolen and it’s down to Paddington and the Browns to found the thief.

Paddington 2 Is the perfect movie. It’s funny, innocent, emotional, action-packed and ideal for any time with or without the family. I know this because I had an awful end of 2017/begin 2018 with my mental health and whilst still in cinemas I went to see the Paul King directed sequel and always leave with the biggest smile.

This movie brings out the good in everyone because that’s what Paddington does, wherever he is he founds that little something that reminds you and the characters that is pure. It’s highlighted in the opening sequence in Windsor Gardens (which must cost a fortune to live in) and then in the prison.

The score and soundtrack by Dario Marianelli need to be praised because it brings the joy and innocence of the film.

The work the VFX time did on this film should be rewarded with something like an Oscar because of the animation went on Paddington and bringing out human emotion from a CGI bear and it was shown in a number of scenes. From the Wes Anderson/original book illustration homage to seeing Paddington have a single tear.

Acting wise, Hugh Grant steals the film basically playing a version of himself and shows he has great comedic chops. Also, watch the credit scene it is just pure bliss.

The love Paddington 2 around the world should be enough for you to buy it, it has a 100% on Rotten Tomatoes and people are already starting potions to get Paddington 2 a Best Film nomination at next year’s Oscars.

Finally, the bonus features on both DVD/Blu-ray are great and includes director’s commentary, Making of feature, a BAFTA Q&A with cast and crew and a FULL-SCREEN VERSION OF PHOENIX BUCHANAN’S ‘RAIN ON THE ROOF’.

Verdict

JUST BUY THIS TRULY WONDERFULLY PERFECT FILM!
