It looks like there’s movement regarding Batgirl.
After Joss Whedon left the project two months, Warner Bros have found a new screenwriter to pen the DCU film.
The Hollywood Reporter has revealed Christina Hodson will be working on a new script that’ll be using Barbara Gordon, daughter of Gotham City police commissioner James Gordon, has the iconic heroine.

Hodson has recently written the script for the upcoming Transformers spinoff Bumblebee which stars Hailee Steinfeld and John Cena.
Hodson is no stranger to the DC character having been involved in the all-female team-up film, Birds of Prey and if The Wrap’s Umberto Gonzalez is believed we could see Batgirl more than once with Warner Bros and DC Films moving forward with Birds of Prey.
Inaccurate. Hodson knocked the BOP draft out of the park, hence why she got Batgirl and BOP is out to directors as next Harley Quinn project. Project is not dead whatsoever but a priority.— Umberto Gonzalez (@elmayimbe) 9 April 2018
The team-up could be also used as Margot Robbie’s Harley Quinn project.
I know fans are still wanting news of a Man of Steel 2 and so do I but the idea of having a mini-universe involving Batman and his family and rogues within the wider DCU is exciting.

If it’s true Birds of Prey is being offered to directors we could see maybe four female directors handling major superhero films joining Patty Jenkins and Ava DuVernay.
As long as the studio and DC Films chief Walter Hamada gets the best person for these films male or female then that’s the more important thing, but if they did get women involved then it’s a major statement from the studio.
