Danny Boyle Confirmed As James Bond 25 Director

After being rumoured for a number of months, Danny Boyle is officially confirmed as the director for Bond 25.

The news was announced via the James Bond Twitter account with Daniel Craig also officially confirmed to return to the role in what will be his final 007 outing.

Even though he said as much last August.

Joining Boyle will be his screenwriting partner John Hodge, who’ll be writing an original screenplay.

The most surprising thing is EoN is pushing ahead with the 2019 release which means filming will be starting at the beginning of December. This will be making the Trainspotting helmer’s life a little crazy as he’s currently working on the Untitled Richard Curtis romantic comedy and then during the post-production and editing of this rom-com, he’ll be working with Hodge on the screenplay and pre-production.

Meanwhile, after a major battle among the studios for the international distribution rights with Deadline revealed Sony was in the mix, after their contact ended once Spectre was released, Warner Bros was pushing hard as were Paramount.

However, Universal got the deal and it’s a major “get” for the studio landing the James Bond franchise and it’ll look likely that if Bond 25 is a major success, Universal will be getting a major franchise to join the likes of Fast and the Furious and Dreamwork Animation studios.

As for the US rights, the instalment will be released under MGM and indie studio Annapurna. This is major for MGM as it’ll have their logo front and centre as the main distributor of a James Bond film for the first time in two decades.

As always the film will be released in the UK first on October 25, 2019, and then Stateside on November 8, 2019.
