Logan Director James Mangold Is Making A Star Wars Movie

It has taken its time but finally, 2016’s Boba Fett Star Wars Story is going into actually happen.

After years of talks at Lucasfilm of the badass bounty hunter that made an impactful impression in The Empire Strikes Back is getting his standalone.

Granted it has taken Lucasfilm and Disney two years longer to have some movement on a project that would be released this year if things with Josh Trunk and Fantastic Four didn’t go so tits up.

However, according to The Hollywood Reporter, the studio has their man in the form of Logan director James Mangold to helm the standalone.

Plot or story details are being close to the chest for the time being, but THR is stating that Mangold will be working with Simon Kinberg, writer-producer for films such as the X-Men series, who was working on a Boba Fett film. Now it looks as if Mangold will co-write the script alongside Kinberg (who’ll also produce the project).

Both clearly have a great working relationship after working together on the X-Men spinoff, Logan. Which earn them both an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay.

Fett has become an iconic character in the Star Wars universe following his appearance in Empire as a mercenary delivering Han Solo to Jubba the Hutt before getting killed off in the lamest way falling into the Sarlacc Pit in Return of the Jedi.

We also got to see baby Boba in Attack of the Clones.

Hopefully, the film will be based on after Empire and before Jedi as he goes around the galaxy doing jobs for Jubba and we see the underworld of being a mercenary.

Before Mangold can put his bounty hunter helmet on, he needs his racing helmet as he’s about to get behind the camera for a Ford vs Ferrari drama for Fox.

The drama will focus on Ford’s quest on beating Ferrari as the top sports car manufacturer. Matt Damon will play Carol Shelby, the engineer who designs the Ford GT 40 from scratch to hopefully win the 1966 Le Mans 24-hour race. Christian Bale is playing the British hotshot race, Ken Miles.
