It’s been an interesting season as a Tottenham Hotspur they’ve played 38 Premier League away games and we can say goodbye to Wembley and we’re finally coming home next season.
Despite what pundits will say this is has been a decent season, we got to the semi-final of the FA Cup, took Juventus all the way and secured an automatic Champions League spot of the third season in a row.
Yet, it's understandable to say we could've done a little bit better and drew fewer games.
Yet, it's understandable to say we could've done a little bit better and drew fewer games.
However, next season Spurs need to do better firstly, making of White Hart Lane a fortress again and I fully agree what boss Mauricio Pochettino said at his post-match press conference after the 5-4 win against Leicester City yesterday (Sunday 13th May).

“We need to talk a lot between us and the club. I think I have a very clear idea of what we need to do” he said. “I don’t know if the club will agree with me or not, but we are going to talk next week to create what I think we need to do together again, to try to improve.”
With the new 62,000 seater stadium, that’ll also be a new home of UK NFL, and other clubs bringing in new managers and players, this is a watershed moment to build a new era for the club.
If Daniel Levy is as clever of a businessman I think he is then he’d agree with what the Argentine said next.
“That is a little bit up to Daniel [Levy] and the club, of course, to agree with us because, after four years, I think we need to assess that period if we want to compete for big, big trophies. I think all that we achieved until today is fantastic but it will be so important to create again.
“The club’s ambition is always to win but it is not easy to find the way. I think it is so important that we are going to move to the new stadium, but not only that is going to make us close to winning” he added.
Finally stating “I think they’re going to listen to me, of course, but sometimes I have some crazy ideas. But you need to be brave in this kind of situation, in our club with our unbelievable fans, and take risks. I think it’s a moment for the club to take risks and try to be competitive.
“I am sure Daniel is going to listen and of course we can create together to help the team to move on.”
The “try to be competitive” is an aim at our strict wage structure and that it needs to be broken to keep the likes of Harry Kane, Dele Ali, Christian Erikson, Son Heung-Min, Hugo Lloris, Jan Vertonghen and even Toby Alderweireld.
All these deals could be done, with the money from finishing third, over a billion from TV, money from season tickets and general tickets and finally the club’s 10 year deal with the NFL that should bring in millions.
Transfers
Now let’s look at the dead wood and players the club should sell and there should be a decent clear out to make way for new players.
The first player that needs to leave is the utterly useless example of a footballer, Moussa Sissoko. Followed up by Michael Vorm, Fernando Llorente, Georges-Kevin Nkoudou and two players I actually like but one clearly isn’t in Pochettino mind which is Vincent Janssen and then you have a club legend in Mousa Dembele, but with his injuries is held together by super glue and duck tape.
Additionally, if we got a decent offer in the form of £40/£50 million plus Luke Shaw then I’d sell Danny Rose to Manchester United.

So what about new players? Well, I’d look to see if we could compete with Manchester’s United and City for £53 million Napoli midfielder Jorginho.
The 26-year-old Italian international would be an ideal replacement for Dembele and if we did beat Pep Guardiola to his signature it’d show the ambition and risk Poch and fans would love to see.
Speaking of midfielder’s, if he was able to drop his wage bill a bit I’d love to see Yaya Toure come to the club and be apart of the matchday squad. Even if that means selling Victor Wanyama.
Elsewhere, if we did sell Rose and didn’t get Shaw in return then other left-backs in mind would be Patrick van Aanholt from Crystal Palace, Southampton’s Ryan Bertrand or Kieran Tierney from Celtic.
If Alderweireld did or didn’t sign a new deal, Alfie Mawson would be an ideal replacement In the defensive back three or as cover. If not Mawson and Alderweireld did leave then bring in Davinson Sanchez’s former Ajax defensive partner Matthijs de Ligt.

Meanwhile, adding some speed in the wings is needed with Crystal Palace’s Wilfried Zaha probably top choice, but Demarai Grey from Leicester City would be a great back-up.
I can’t see any striker wanting to join us as they know they’ll play second fiddle to Harry Kane and Ciro Immobile doesn’t have a great record being massive flops at both Borussia Dortmund and Sevilla.
The same goes for our goalkeeper, so in both cases bring up younger players.
Next Season
As a rugby fan, there was a competition called the Anglo-Welsh Cup mixing the Aviva Premiership teams and the Welsh sides from the Pro14. The main aim of this competition was to breed the future stars of both their clubs and country and this is how I feel Spurs should see the League Cup.
So with Vorm gone, this would be the ideal place for Paulo Gazzaniga to play whilst still understudy Lloris during Premier League matchdays and FA Cups because the Argentine keeper played well against Palace at Wembley.
Moving on with Kyle Walker-Peters, who has signed a new deal until 2021 with Spurs, should be our first choice right back/wingback in both cup competitions as he shown both against Newcastle at the start of the season and Leicester yesterday, he has genuine pace and is able to create goals down the right.

Plus, if he does well enough and Serge Aurier doesn’t improve next season we have the perfect replacement in Walker-Peters.
Furthermore, with the strikers, as stated above, instead of buying a player to be the second choice striker start using Kazaiah Sterling more on matchday’s and then lead the line in the League cup alongside academy star Reo Griffiths.
Griffiths is a talented player and instead of putting him in the development squad, stick him in the first team with Sterling and have Kane as their mentor and then you have two young English strikers making their way up the club.
As for the first team, if they do sell Dembele and can’t bring in a replacement like Toure or Jorginho then moving Ali in the centre midfield to become that creative linchpin of the team and it feels position for Lucas Moura to become a regular in the starting 11.
