After it was first revealed last year that season 3 of Young Justice and a brand-new Titans TV show was coming to a new DC streaming service, I was a pain in the arse to the press people at DC Entertainment and Warner Bros.
However, last night (Wednesday 2nd May) we FINALLY have an official name and what we could expect see and it’s all very exciting and apologises to Spotify but DC Entertainment needs my money.
DC Universe is a brand-new streaming service designed for DC fans and it’ll include three original series and a returning fan favourite in the form of Young Justice and will be coming and they all have awesome logos.
The series that’s gotten fans super excited is the announcement of a James Wan will be executive produced a Swamp Thing show that will be joining the platform.

The Hollywood Reporter revealed that after “a months-long deal making process” DC Universe is putting the DC Comics drama into development and there’s a script-to-series order, basically means if the scripts good then a series is on the way.
Serving as co-writers and showrunners for the live action horror/drama will be Mark Verhaegen (Battlestar Galactical, Daredevil) & Gary Dauber man (IT and the forthcoming sequel) and they both will join Wan as exec producers.
Here's the official synopsis:
"When CDC researcher Abby Arcane returns to her childhood home of Houma, Louisiana, in order to investigate a deadly swamp-borne virus, she develops a surprising bond with scientist Alec Holland — only to have him tragically taken from her. But as powerful forces descend on Houma, intent on exploiting the swamp’s mysterious properties for their own purposes, Abby will discover that the swamp holds mystical secrets, both horrifying and wondrous — and the potential love of her life may not be dead after all."

Just in case you don’t know why this character is so popular, check out this description from DC Comics.
“Alec Holland was an idealistic scientist who was synthesizing a top-secret chemical in his hidden lab in the marshlands. But after a bomb in his office explodes, the young scientist is murdered. Or so it seems. Because rising in his place is the Swamp Thing, a creature made of vegetation that’s absorbed Alec Holland’s memories, personality—and grief.
The monstrous Swamp Thing can control every iota of plant life on this planet, from the fungus on stale bread to forests of towering oaks. Superhumanly strong and grotesque, he can grow himself a full array of titanic bodies from even the tiniest sprout of green. A living embodiment of the power and terror in our environment, the Swamp Thing protects both humanity and the environment—usually from each other."

This series has everything going for it with an experienced showrunner in Verhaegen and with Dauberman exciting talented young writer. Wan tweeted his excitement and that it will have the horror vibe.
Been developing this “vegetarian hero” for awhile now :) With a great team. Happy to finally share. Expect — mood, mystery, gothic romance, and swamp monsters! https://t.co/WbZ9Lb6iBR— James Wan (@creepypuppet) 2 May 2018
Damn straight. More horror than anything. https://t.co/k2QTMdR9RJ— James Wan (@creepypuppet) 2 May 2018
Meanwhile, Deadline has reported the planned Metropolis focusing on Lois Lane and Lex Luther, without Clark Kent/Superman, has a 13-episode straight-to-series order is being redeveloped.
When (if) Swamp Thing goes to series order it’ll join the live-action TV series Titans as well as the animated Harley Quinn and Young Justice: Outsiders.
Will be getting more info soon, most likely San Diego Comic Con and this will include what else will be on the streaming service and prices.
What Do We Know So Far?
Titans
Originally conceived by Bob Haney and Bruno Premiani, this TV show will likely be based on the New Teen Titans series by George Perez and Marv Wolfman will be the flagship show on the DC Universe.
Executive Produced by Greg Belanti (Arrow, The Flash, Supergirl, Legends of Tomorrow, Black Lighting), Akiva Goldsman and DC Entetainment’s Geoff Johns and the series will focus on Dick Grayson (Thwaities) to come out of the Batman’s shadow to form a superhero team and be joined by Starfire (Anna Diop), Beast Boy (Ryan Potter) and Raven (Teagan Croft) and in the Perez and Wolfman run they added Wonder Girl with the rumour to be in the series and played by Conor Leslie (according to Heroic Hollywood).

Episodes will include Hawk and Dove (Alan Ritchson and Minka Kelly), Beast Boy’s original group the Doom Patrol and there’s an episode focusing on Jason Todd and Red Hood.
Young Justice: Outsiders
Created by Brandon Vietti and Greg Wiseman, Young Justice focuses on the younger heroes and sidekicks in DC Comics.
Following two awesome seasons (seriously WATCH THEM) Young Justice: Outsiders will be a 26 episode series as the team takes on it's greatest challenge as they tackle meta-human trafficking and the terrifying threat it creates for a society caught in the crossfire of a genetic arms race spanning the globe and the galaxy.

This season’s Young Justice line-up features, from left to right, Static, Kid Flash, Robin (probably Damian Wayne), Wonder Girl, Spoiler, Blue Beetle, Thirteen, Arrowette, Arsenal and Beast Boy.
Meanwhile, it looks like Artemis, Nightwing, Aqualad (maybe) and Superboy look like they’re on a black ops mission, but no Miss Martian?

Harley Quinn
Originally created by Batman: The Animated Series’ Paul Dini and Bruce Timm, Harley Quinn is a 26-episode possibly R-rated animated comedy series that will focus on Harley who finally breaks up with The Joker as forms her own path becoming a Queenpin of Gotham.
DC Comic villains such as King Shark, Clayface, Dr, Psycho, Sy Borgman and more will feature. Poison Ivy has a major role in the series and still not confirmed if we’ll see Harley and Ivy’s on/off relationship and rumour has it DC is trying to get Margot Robbie to voice Harley.

What Else Could We See?
Following Disney’s purchasing of 20th Century Fox, both DC Comic based Fox shows Gotham and Lucifer will become DCU exclusives and I could see Krypton being a UK DCU exclusive as we haven’t heard news regarding the SYFY show in the UK yet.

Elsewhere, all the animated shows from Batman: The Animated Series, Batman Beyond, Justice League, Justice League: Unlimited and more and all the animated films also in this streaming services library.
Meanwhile, all the DC live action films from 1978 Superman to 2017's Wonder Woman and/or Justice League and CW (or Sky One for UK readers) shows will be there too.
Finally, we could have two more shows have a comeback in the form of Matt Ryan’s Constantine, as it’ll fit with Swamp Thing. The other would be the animated Teen Titans that ended in 2006.
I hope there’s a planned Injustice animated series and if DC and WB want to talk about it, here’s my idea.
My bold prediction (and I’m most likely wrong) is this DC Universe will be connected to the DC Films Universe as I can see Dauberman penning and directing a Justice League Dark film with his Swamp Thing with Wan being an exec producer. Additionally, it’s possible Titans Dick Grayson (Brenton Thwaites) could know Ben Affleck’s Bruce Wayne.

As I said it’s a bold prediction and I’ll be wrong about.
All I can add is I cannot wait to start watching all these series and see what comes next and the end of 2018 (which is the possible release date) can’t come soon enough.
